Gas and Electric Coordination Initiative
The inaugural Regional Energy Symposium, held in October 2025 in Portland, brought together industry professionals, utility executives, and policy-makers to address one of the Pacific Northwest’s most pressing energy questions: how can gas and electric systems better coordinate to deliver a clean, reliable, and affordable energy future?
Co-hosted by the Northwest Gas Association (NWGA), the Pacific Northwest Utilities Conference Committee (PNUCC), the Public Generating Pool (PGP), and the Western Power Pool (WPP), the symposium delivered a clear and emphatic conclusion: the time for siloed planning is over.

Achieving the region’s energy and climate goals will require intentional coordination across gas and electric systems—aligning planning, operations, and policy to ensure reliability, affordability, and resilience for the communities they serve.
